Occassionally come back to this page to learn more about things to do while in the area. We will have information from sponsoring restaurants and companies. We will also share information from non-profit organizations and local clubs offering activities to enjoy.

  • Bear's Den Lounge and Motel
  • The Bear's Den on Highway 17 offers a restaurant in the front and pub atmosphere at the back. There is a wide selection of meals from their Bison Burger, to Pickerel, to Indian cuisine.
  • Golden Dragon Restaurant
  • Golden Dragon on Highway 17 is the best Canadian-Chinese restaurant around the area, featuring authentic Cantonese and Canadian-Chinese cuisines, from sweet and sour chicken ball, to honey garlic sparerib, to Singaporean fried noodle.
  • Long Shots Sports Cafe
  • The Long Shots Sports Cafe at 1 Champlain Street in the downtown core is a local Bar and Grill that offers great food, great tunes, free WiFi, in a very cosy setting.

    Things to do in Deep River

    We feature here various organizations that provide something to do while you are visiting the Town of Deep River.
  • The Canadian Clock Museum [Google Map]

    The Canadian Clock Museum opens from Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
    and Sunday afternoons 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
    Admission fee is $5 for adults, $10 for families with their own children, and $2 for students on their own.
    The fee includes a one-hour guided tour.

  • Canadian Nuclear Heritage Meseum [Google Map]

    The Canadian Nuclear Heritage Meseum is managed by the Society for the Preservation of Canada’s Nuclear Heritage Inc., a charitable organization run solely by volunteers. Through a special arrangement, the meseum will open from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on June 3. Admission is free while donations are welcome.

  • Magic of Science Demostrations

    Did you know Deep River is home to Canada's nuclear pioneers? Thanks to the support of the Canadian Nuclear Laboratories and local volunteers, during the tournament in the large gym, there will be some neat "Magic of Science" demos in the small gym. Kids getting restless waiting for their sibling or parent to compete, walk down the hall for little a science treat!

  • Exploring the Ottawa Valley

            A 2-hour drive north-west of Ottawa, Deep River is nestled between Algonguin Park and Quebec. In the 2021 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, Deep River had a population of 4,175 living in 1,866 of its 1,981 total private dwellings. For outdoor enthusiasts, Deep River offers hiking and bike trails, and 100s of kms of snowmobile/4x4 trails. If you like to enjoy the water, Deep River is on the shores of the Ottawa River where you can kayak, canoe, paddleboard, sail, motorboat and fish, or just hang out on one of the beaches. For campers, there are campgrounds nearby, including a choice of 3 Ontario Provincial Parks within about a 1-hour drive (Driftwood, Achray and Bonnechere).
